The 11th day of the waning moon( Krishna paksha) & the 11th day of the waxing moon(Shukla paksha) is called EKADASHI.
This falls every 15 days, twice a month.

This is because the moon comes closer to the Earth & pulls the water towards itself by force of gravity.
We all know that the human body is made up of water( 70 %)
The moon has a strong influence on the water during the above days.
If we eat grains, they absorb water, which can create diseases due to the moon’s gravity attracting the water.
According to science, it takes about 3-4 days for the food that we eat today to reach our brain.
Now, if we fast on Ekadashi days,
that intake will reach the brain correspondingly on the New moon/full moon day.
